Frequently Asked Questions

Specialty medications are prescribed for complex, chronic, and rare conditions for many different disease states, including oncology, neurology, and inflammatory conditions. They have specific storage, dispensing, and care requirements. These medications can be challenging to take if they need to be administered by injection or infusion. Some specialty medications may also cause certain side effects that require close monitoring. Due to these challenges, only specialty pharmacies can fill specialty medications under the supervision of trained pharmacists. The Glens Falls Hospital Specialty Pharmacy’s team of experts is here to help you understand your medications and manage your treatment journey.

To begin your treatment, your provider will send your prescription directly to the Glens Falls Hospital Specialty Pharmacy. We will quickly fill your prescription so you can begin treatment as soon as possible. You can pick up your medication from the pharmacy in person, or we can mail them to your home for free. Our team will call you to let you know when it is time for a refill. We work to make your therapy journey as convenient as possible.

Specialty medications can be expensive. Our staff is here to help you navigate prescription insurance and manage medication costs. We will call your insurance provider to confirm your benefits. We will also monitor financial assistance programs, including the GFH/Albany Med Health System Financial Assistance Program. Once we find available options, we will review them with you and help you enroll in any applicable program. Our team will ensure you have plenty of information to manage copay costs.

Our pharmacists are an extension of your care team. We are here to educate you on your medication so you know what to expect. Our clinical experts will explain storage, schedules, dosing, interactions, and potential side effects. If you have a question about your care, you can call our 24/7 support line at any time for answers. We update your provider on your progress, so they can closely monitor your progress. The Glens Falls Hospital Specialty Pharmacy works alongside your provider to help you feel better and recover stronger.

At the Glens Falls Hospital Specialty Pharmacy, we help you get through every step of your treatment. Our goal is to make the journey easier so you can focus on feeling better.

Your Story is our Story - Glens Falls Hospital "Megan, my nurse was especially nice to me. When I told her my hearing difficulty was with clarity and because I couldn't lip read through her mask she went and put a see through one on! This made communicating with her a joy! She made the situation so comfortable, such a caring person." Anonymous Glens Falls Neurology
