Volunteering can be fun, easy and especially rewarding. We have many areas of opportunity for you to use your talents. You can bring a particular skill you would like to offer or just a friendly smile. The position can be once a week, or just a few hours for a special event or planned project.
We aim to match you with a rewarding experience. Our volunteers come from all walks of life, each one is individually interviewed to be sure we connect you with the right opportunity. Our volunteers strive to be compassionate and reliable while working in many different areas of the hospital. Examples of the areas we currently offer volunteers are: meeting and greeting our arriving families and patients; sitting with families while loved ones are in surgery; delivering books and magazines to patients; and, assisting in various office areas as the “extra pair of hands.” Volunteers may also join a committee for special fundraising events.
Glens Falls Hospital has a strong background for volunteering, since 1903, the volunteers of Glens Falls Hospital have contributed over 2 million hours of volunteer time and helped in fundraising efforts totaling over $3 million for patient services and equipment. Today, more than 250 men and women volunteers of all ages provide support for the patients and families who receive services in more than 30 hospital departments and off-site locations.
Our Junior Program offers teenagers ages 13 to 18 a valuable experience by volunteering a minimum of two hours per week as part of a commitment to Glens Falls Hospital. This experience provides opportunities for personal development by building competence and confidence in customer service, decision-making, and organizational and leadership skills in a healthcare environment. Junior volunteer hours are recognized by Glens Falls Hospital Volunteer Services each year with a certificate, which is sent to the students’ high school honoring them for the time donated.
