Reflecting on the 1 year anniversary of the COVID-19 pandemic

In March 2020, our world was turned upside down as COVID-19 made its way into our lives. Hospitals and healthcare professionals across the country put aside their fears and worries and quickly sprang into action to support their communities. The healthcare heroes at Glens Falls Hospital did not hesitate for a second to show up on the frontlines of the pandemic to provide life-saving care for our friends and neighbors.

As we commemorate the 1 year anniversary of COVID-19 here at GFH, we reflect on everything we have overcome. From shifting our entire operational structure in a matter of days, to taking on new responsibilities and implementing new policies to be sure our hospital and clinics are a safe place to receive care, the entire Glens Falls Hospital family came together seamlessly in our communities’ greatest hour of need. Our team found ways to celebrate COVID patients who recovered by lining up down the halls and clapping for them as they were discharged with ‘Here Comes the Sun’ echoing through the halls of GFH. Our team also found ways to help the healing process of those who lost a loved one from COVID by creating “Shine On’ lanterns to show that our loved ones lights will continue to shine on. And most recently, the COVID-19 vaccine has brought a glimpse of hope to ending this pandemic.

We thank each and every GFH team member for their perseverance and hard work over this past year. And we thank you, our community, for being there for us every step of the way. If there is any silver lining to a global pandemic its that together we can accomplish anything. We are so grateful to be a part of this incredible region and look forward to what the future holds for us all. #WeAreGFH
