Important Note

The Histology Department must be notified that the specimen is being sent for frozen section or intraoperative consultation:

  • Between the hours of Monday – Friday 7:30 a.m. -5:00 p.m. call the Histology Department at 518-926- 3831.
  • Weeknights after 5 p.m. and on weekends, call 518-926-3800 and ask for the on-call Pathologist.

Specimen Stability Information

  • Specimen must be delivered immediately to the Histology Department of the Laboratory.

  • Specimen in formalin or other fixative
