The potential of the hospital so inspired one local woman,
Lillian Wendall, that she brought together a group of her friends to raise the funds
necessary to purchase the badly needed horse-drawn vehicle. The friends christened
themselves the Hospital Guild and, in doing so, began the most enduring volunteer
contribution in the hospitals 100-year history. Since 1903, the members of the
Glens Falls Hospital Guild have contributed more than 1.3 million hours of volunteer time
and helped raise more than $2.2 million for patient services and equipment.
Glens Falls Hospital would not be the institution it is today without the
tremendous contributions of the Hospital Guild, says Hospital President and Chief
Executive Officer David Kruczlnicki. And those contributions extend far beyond
fundraising. The Guild brings a level of enthusiasm and a spirit of warmth to their work
that simply cant be expressed in dollars and cents.
