The primary objective of the Glens Falls Hospital Radiography Program is to provide students with the necessary academic and clinical knowledge to function as competent Radiographers, who are eligible to achieve ARRT certification and gain employment in their community.

Mission

The Radiography School at Glens Falls Hospital seeks to provide a qualitative, comprehensive, and diverse education; dedicated to provide each student with the knowledge, skills, and professionalism to serve the community in the field of diagnostic and therapeutic radiography, consistent with our sponsoring institution.

Goals

  • Demonstrate clinical and didactic competency preparing graduates
    for entry- level employment.
  • Demonstrate effective ethical judgment, critical thinking, communication, and problem solving skills.
  • Support continuous educational development and growth.

Plan

Our plan is to provide a core curriculum consistent with the position of the ASRT and the ARRT regarding certification, in Radiologic Technology. During the students' journey to achieving an accepted academic and clinical level of competency they will:

  • Practice oral, written, and electronic medical communication.
  • Demonstrate the knowledge of human anatomy, physiology, and pathology.
  • Anticipate and provide patient care, comfort, and safety.
  • Apply the theories of Radiologic Sciences and Techniques.
  • Demonstrate the knowledge of medical ethics and legal issues.
  • Operate radiographic instrumentation and equipment.
  • Perform radiographic procedures modifying each to accommodate for the patient or situation.
  • Process and quality assess diagnostic images.
  • Practice radiation protection for the patient, self, and others.
  • Exercise independent judgment and discretion in the technical performance of diagnostic imaging procedures.
  • Promote life-long learning to allow for adaptation to an ever-changing environment.
