GLENS
FALLS - Robert G. Hogan, MD, cardiology, was recently recognized by the
Glens Falls Hospital Board of Governors with the Harry M. "Mac" DePan
Physician Award of Excellence during the Board's Annual Meeting and Holiday
Dinner.
Dr. Hogan has been an active member of the Glens Falls Hospital
Medical/Dental Staff since 2001 and is medical director of the Cardiac
Catheterization Lab. He is affiliated with Adirondack Cardiology Associates.
Under Dr. Hogan's clinical leadership, Glens Falls Hospital began performing
emergency Percutaneous Coronary Intervention (PCI), or emergency
angioplasty, in 2003. Only a small number of non-cardiac surgery hospitals
in the state are permitted to perform this clinical procedure under a
special demonstration project overseen by the state Department of Health and
Johns Hopkins University Medical Center. To date, Dr. Hogan has performed
more than 70 emergency PCIs at Glens Falls Hospital. In the absence of this
program and Dr. Hogan's expertise, these patients would have been forced to
travel upwards of one hour to access this critical, life-saving procedure.
Dr. Hogan also performs elective procedures at Albany Medical Center and
Ellis Hospital weekly, in order to continuously maintain his skills. During
his clinical leadership of the Cardiac Catheterization Lab, he has provided
475 days of call coverage . . . nearly two-thirds of the total required
physician PCI call responsibility.
He received his medical degree from SUNY Health Science Center in Syracuse,
NY, followed by an internal medicine residency at Mary Imogene Bassett
Hospital in Cooperstown, NY. Dr. Hogan also completed fellowships in
cardiology and interventional cardiology at the University of Massachusetts
Medical Center in Worcester, Mass. He is board certified by the American
Board of Internal Medicine.
Dr. Hogan is married and resides with his wife, Elizabeth Little Hogan, and
their three children in Glens Falls. |
