GFH honors Todd Jorgensen, MD, with Physician Award of Excellence

GLENS FALLS – Todd Jorgensen, MD, physical medicine and rehabilitation, was recently recognized by the Glens Falls Hospital Board of Governors with the Harry M. “Mac” DePan Physician Award of Excellence during the Board’s Annual Meeting and Holiday Dinner.

Dr. Jorgensen has been an active member of the Glens Falls Hospital Medical/Dental Staff and director of the Glens Falls Hospital Rehabilitation Services since 1999. Having grown up in Scotia, NY, Dr. Jorgensen elected to establish his medical career in the familiar lower Adirondacks, which allows him to pursue a stimulating medical career while also enjoying plenty of opportunities to participate in the outdoor sports he so enjoys.

From the care of his patients to his interactions with support staff and fellow physicians, Dr. Jorgensen lives the Glens Falls Hospital values of respect, responsiveness and responsibility. He serves as a mentor and educator for rehab staff members and has provided numerous informative in-services for staff on a variety of topics. As a result of his clinical leadership and support, rehabilitation care for patients at the Hospital has grown tremendously.

Through his involvement and support, Rehabilitation Services has expanded to include partnerships that provide sub-acute rehabilitation services at four area skilled nursing facilities, a new Outpatient Rehabilitation Center on Bay Road in Queensbury, and a 15-bed dedicated Inpatient Rehab Unit located on the renovated 3 East Wing. Dr. Jorgensen has been an especially strong advocate for the aquatic therapy pool at the Bay Road Center, which places the Hospital in a unique position to serve patients from an expanded catchment area. His vision was right … more research emerges daily that supports the investment of this technologically advanced pool.

Dr. Jorgensen is frequently commended by patients and coworkers … “Dr. Jorgensen was outstanding”…”Couldn’t have asked for any better than I got from Dr. Todd Jorgensen” … “Dr. Jorgensen is a mentor, a role model, and a friend.”

Dr. Jorgensen received his medical degree from Albany Medical College and completed his postdoctoral residency in internal medicine and physical medicine and rehabilitation at Albany Medical Center. He is board certified by the American Board of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation.

Dr. Jorgensen and his wife Laurie live in Queensbury. In their free time, they enjoy white-water kayaking, hiking and wildlife photography. They frequently vacation out West where they have been dropped into remote areas by plane, and even spent their honeymoon camping in Alaska, capturing images of grizzly bears, moose and wolves.
