Lab’s Move to New Location
Most people would
be offended if they were known for putting people to
sleep. But Dr. Surendra Nevatia and respiratory therapist
Kerry Sumner take pride in their abilities to induce a
sound slumber. The pair runs Glens Falls Hospital’s
Adirondack Sleep Disorders Lab — perhaps the most
quietly successful of all the Hospital’s services.
Since
opening in 1998, the Lab’s waiting list of people
seeking to cure a sleep disorder has never fallen below
six weeks.
Now, due to this
overwhelming response, the Lab has moved from its original
home in the Hospital — where it shared rooms used for
ultrasound services — to larger, dedicated space in the
former Northcare Building in Glens Falls, where it is a
key component of the Hospital’s new Broad Street Campus.
The Lab’s capacity for seeing patients has increased
from 10 to 20 per week with the move.
If you are experiencing difficulty sleeping, ask
your primary care physician to refer you to the Adirondack Sleep
Disorders Lab.
