The Board of Directors of the Glens Falls Hospital
Foundation has announced a new way for local people to make a difference in the lives
of their friends and families each day of the year the Glens Falls Hospital
Foundation Annual Fund.
"Changes in the public and private healthcare payment systems mean that Medicare,
Medicaid and health insurance companies often pay Glens Falls Hospital less for its
services than it actually costs to provide them," says F. Raymond Agnew, executive
vice president of the Foundation, the not-for-profit organization founded in 1996 for the
sole purpose of raising community support for the Hospital.
"Gifts to the Annual Fund will help offset those losses and enable the Hospital to
continue its not-for-profit mission of providing high quality care to local people, close
to home."
In 1998, Glens Falls Hospital incurred nearly $9 million in health care costs for which
it was not reimbursed. Each dollar lost is a dollar that could otherwise have been spent
on staff training, new technologies and new community health and education programs.
Contributors can direct their gifts to one of the following eight service areas The Cancer Center, the Inpatient
and Day Surgery Centers, the Emergency Care Center, Cardiology, Rehabilitation
Services, Womens Services, Behavioral
Health Services and Research and Development or to wherever the need is
greatest.
Gifts to the Annual Fund can be made by sending a check to:
