Glens Falls Hospital to conduct evacuation
exercise Jan. 11
GLENS FALLS — Glens Falls Hospital will conduct an evacuation exercise
Thursday morning, Jan. 11 involving several emergency response agencies.
The evacuation exercise will commence at 8:00 a.m. and conclude at approximately
11:00 a.m. The fire department, law enforcement, public health, the Office of
Emergency Management and several local EMS agencies will all participate.
Signage will advise visitors that Glens Falls Hospital is conducting an
evacuation exercise. Visitors and passing motorists may see evacuation teams
moving people portraying victims to staging shelters in the Pruyn Pavilion
parking lot as well as simulated smoke. Security personnel will restrict access
to portions of the Pruyn Pavilion parking lot during the exercise.
Glens Falls Hospital conducts monthly tabletop exercises and semiannual
exercises to develop its emergency preparedness plans and strong partnerships
with its community and regional response agencies. The exercises focus on an
all-hazards approach to disaster response utilizing the Hospital Incident
Command System (HICS).
