Why:

Moving into the space vacated by the Coronary Care Unit when it moved to the
Northwest Tower in November 2005, this brightly painted unit, dubbed The Kids
Cove, features an ocean theme with tropical fish wallpaper borders in each
patient room, floor tile patterns resembling ocean waves and even fish and star
ceiling tiles.
Eleven private rooms afford more privacy for patients and families. A central
nursing station provides enhanced visibility for patient monitoring. The new
location includes more storage space, a play room and an expanded Bearly Ill
program, Glens Falls Hospital’s day care program for children ages two months to
12 years with minor illnesses, with four semi-private beds.
The unit also includes an Ouch Room, where pediatric patients who need mildly
painful procedures involving needles — for example, a blood draw or a shot — can
now go so they don’t associate these unpleasant experiences with their own room. |
