GFH oncology nurses attain OCN®
certification
GLENS FALLS — Glens Falls Hospital’s cancer care
program announces that five registered nurses on staff recently earned status as
certified oncology nurses.
Lynn Adams, RN; Mary LaFrance, RN; Steve Moran, RN; Cathy Rae, RN; and Donna
Winchell, RN, recently passed their certification exams and now meet all
eligibility requirements as certified oncology nurses by the Oncology Nursing
Certification Corporation (ONCC).
OCN® certification is a validation of an individual’s knowledge in oncology
nursing. Nurses must meet specific eligibility criteria for nursing experience
and specialty practice, and pass a rigorous multiple-choice examination.
Oncology certified nurses have met or exceeded requirements for practice in
cancer care, have completed education in oncology nursing, and have a tested
knowledge of the specialty. ONCC is a non-profit organization that develops,
administers, and evaluates programs for certification in oncology nursing.
The nationally accredited
C.R. Wood Cancer Center at Glens Falls
Hospital, which now boasts 23 OCN-certified nurses on staff, offers the most
comprehensive array of cancer support, outstanding cancer specialists and the
most advanced treatments.
