GFH oncology nurses attain OCN® certification

GLENS FALLS — Glens Falls Hospital’s cancer care program announces that five registered nurses on staff recently earned status as certified oncology nurses.

Lynn Adams, RN; Mary LaFrance, RN; Steve Moran, RN; Cathy Rae, RN; and Donna Winchell, RN, recently passed their certification exams and now meet all eligibility requirements as certified oncology nurses by the Oncology Nursing Certification Corporation (ONCC).

OCN® certification is a validation of an individual’s knowledge in oncology nursing. Nurses must meet specific eligibility criteria for nursing experience and specialty practice, and pass a rigorous multiple-choice examination. Oncology certified nurses have met or exceeded requirements for practice in cancer care, have completed education in oncology nursing, and have a tested knowledge of the specialty. ONCC is a non-profit organization that develops, administers, and evaluates programs for certification in oncology nursing.

The nationally accredited C.R. Wood Cancer Center at Glens Falls Hospital, which now boasts 23 OCN-certified nurses on staff, offers the most comprehensive array of cancer support, outstanding cancer specialists and the most advanced treatments.
