PET Imaging
(Positron Emission Tomography )

The PET scan is a diagnostic examination that uses small amounts of radioactivity to take detailed pictures of different areas inside the body.

The images will show how your body’s organs and tissues function.  PET can not be used alone as a diagnostic tool. Its value is enhanced when it is part of a larger diagnostic work-up, and it is capable of diagnosing a wide range of cancer types. Currently, PET imaging is used in detecting recurring disease early, and monitoring the response to therapy treatments.

PET has also been helpful in diagnosing cardiac disease and some brain disorders. It has also has provided insight to severe neurological conditions, such as epilepsy and Alzheimer’s disease.
