Sparkle Bottle

Metallic glitter is magically suspended in plastic soda bottles, creating a rainbow of swirling colors.

What you will need:
Small clear plastic soda bottle with a cap
Light corn syrup
Assorted shapes of metallic confetti
(found in gift and card shops)
Cold water

How to concoct it:
Fill soda bottle 3/4 of the way with corn syrup.
Add a small handful of metallic confetti.
Top the bottle off with water.
Seal the bottle securely with a cap and shake.

Concoctions Tips & Ideas:
Add a few drops of food coloring  to your Sparkle Bottle for added interest.  Create Sparkle Wands by using a 1-inch diameter clear plastic aquarium lift tube (found in pet supply stores) and two 1-inch plastic chair leg caps (found in hardware stores). Secure a plastic chair leg cap on one end of the lift tube with a hot glue gun. Fill the tube with corn syrup, glitter, and cold water. Glue the remaining chair leg cap on the other end of the tube and shake.

You’ll have fun finger painting while getting yourself
and the tub clean at the same time.

What you will need:
1/3 cup clear, mild liquid dish detergent

Food coloring

How to concoct it:
Mix liquid dish detergent and cornstarch together in
a small bowl until blended.
Pour the mixture, in equal parts, into several sections
of a plastic ice cube tray.

the tray and mix with a small spoon.

Concoction Tips & Ideas:

Cornstarch Goop

1 cup cornstarch
a small amount of water

Add water slowly to cornstarch until the goop drips from the spoon. The mixture will seem hard until you try to pick it up then it slides between your fingers. If it is to liquidy add a little more cornstarch. If the white is too boring for you add some food coloring!

Flubber

Ingredients:

large container
1 cup of water
white glue
2 tsp. borax

In the container mix the water and borax. Then add the glue. The more glue you add the bigger the glob will be. Stir well. After a minute pick up glob and mush in your hand mixing in any pockets of glue left. If you roll it in a ball you can bounce it on the floor but don't try to bounce it on the carpet, it picks up a lot of lint.

Best-Ever Muffins

Ingredients:
2 cups all-purpose flour
3 teaspoons baking powder
1/2 teaspoon salt
3/4 cup white sugar
1 egg
1 cup milk
1/4 cup vegetable oil

Directions:
Pre-heat oven to 400 degrees F.

Stir together the flour, baking powder, salt and sugar in a large bowl. Make a "well" in the center. In a small bowl or 2 cup measuring cup, beat egg with a fork. Stir in milk and oil. Pour all at once into the "well" in the flour mixture. Mix quickly and lightly with a fork until moistened, but do not beat. The batter will be lumpy.

Varitations:  Blueberry Muffins: Add 1 cup fresh blueberries. Raisin Muffins: Add 1 cup finely chopped raisins. Date Muffins: Add 1 cup finely chopped dates. Cheese Muffins: Fold in 1 cup grated sharp yellow cheese. Bacon Muffins: Fold 1/4 cup crisp cooked bacon, broken into bits.

Pour the batter into paper muffin pan cups and bake for 25 minutes or until golden.

Hamburger Cookies

These cookies look just like little hamburgers.

Ingredients:
4 drops green food coloring
few drops of water
1/4 cup flaked coconut
48 vanilla wafers
24 chocolate covered peppermint patties
sesame seeds

Directions:
Preheat oven to 350 degrees F (180 degrees C).

In a bowl, combine food coloring with a few drops of water. Add coconut and cover the container, shake until coconut is tinted. Set aside.  Place 1/2 of the vanilla wafers, flat side up, in an ungreased cookie sheet.

Top each wafer with a peppermint patty. Place in the oven about 1 minute or just until chocolate begins to soften.

Remove cookies from oven and sprinkle each mint with 1/2 teaspoon coconut (for lettuce). Place another vanilla wafer on top and press gentle. With a clean paint brush, brush the top of each hamburger with just enough water to moisten so that the sesame seeds will stick when sprinkled on top of each cookie. NOTE: You can use canned chocolate frosting in place of peppermint patty, then eliminate the baking.
