The most dramatic unit of most hospitals is the emergency center. The
staff and services are available 24 hours a day, seven days a week to treat any medical
situation. For a patient, the pace can be hectic and the experience stressful.
Today, as we approach the 21st Century, it is essential that emergency departments
operate as centers of full-service emergency care. Implementing this comprehensive
approach allows us to deliver more efficient, improved services in a manner that best
meets the needs of the people we serve.
The nature of emergency medicine demands constant vigilance to quality, efficiency and
technologically-advanced resources. Glens Falls Hospital has one of the busiest emergency
centers in Northeastern New York. Our center provides service to
nearly 50,000 patients
annually and is available to a population of 180,000 in addition to an increased seasonal,
tourist population.
Our 37-bed Emergency Care Center is structured to offer three distinct, but
integrated services: Emergency Services, ExpressCare, for acute but less serious
problems; and, a Clinical Decision Unit, for extended
monitoring and treatment.
Thanks to the generous donations of philanthropists David S. and Janet R.
Sheridan, the business community and other individuals,
the Emergency Care Center stands as a testament to Glens Falls Hospital's
commitment to providing timely emergency care services. |
