MEDICAL/DENTAL STAFF
EDUCATION COMMITTEE

MISSION STATEMENT

Glens Falls Hospital, in accordance with its mission to improve the health and well being of the people and communities in our region, recognizes that continuing medical education is a life-long process and supports a program for this purpose.

The mission of the Medical/Dental Staff Education Committee of Glens Falls Hospital is the assessment of educational needs of health care providers (medical, dental, adjunct and professional staff), the planning and implementation of educational opportunities, and the evaluation of the impact of these educational activities to improve the practice of medicine. Glens Falls Hospital Continuing Medical Education is dedicated to providing opportunities, which will enable physicians to maintain, develop and increase knowledge, skills, performance and relationships necessary for continuing to improve services to the community and the medical profession. Education is designed to provide opportunities to enhance and expand knowledge of the latest treatment options, new procedures, and emerging issues in the changing health care environment.

Continuing medical education opportunities are provided for physicians of Glens Falls Hospital and in the surrounding Adirondack region (Ticonderoga, Whitehall, Granville, North Creek, Indian Lake, Chestertown, Warrensburg, Bolton Landing, Queensbury, Moreau, Wilton, Cambridge, Salem, Greenwich and Ballston Spa). Attendance at activities by all health care providers and adjunct staff is welcome.

CME activities at Glens Falls Hospital feature multiple teaching methods, which include lectures, case presentations, panel discussions, teleconferences, and Web-based educational opportunities. These CME activities include one-hour, half-day, full-day and multi-day conferences and workshops. Glens Falls Hospital supports all education methods, which encourage interaction between faculty and participant and use of educational methods and technologies appropriate for the accomplishment of activity objectives.

The content of our programs includes that body of evidence-based knowledge generally recognized and accepted by the professions as within the basic medical sciences, the discipline of clinical medicine, and the provision of medical care to the public.

CME activities are subjected to on-going evaluation, modification and assessment to assure that the design and implementation of CME activities meet and address the needs identified related to the health of those we serve. This is achieved through quality improvement initiatives, physicians' requests, surveys and analysis of evaluation data. It is expected that educational activities will meet the learning needs of physicians and other health care providers, and thereby positively impacting the health and well being of the patients and the providers themselves.
