Support Group

The Northeast Regional Osteoporosis Prevention & Education Program at Glens Falls Hospital offers monthly osteoporosis support group meetings.

The support group meets the third Thursday of the month from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m. at the Bay Road Center, located just south of Adirondack Community College on 25 Willowbrook Road in Queensbury. The support group also meets the third Wednesday from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m. at the Clifton Park YMCA, 1 Wall Street, Clifton Park.

The meetings provide information and education to those living with osteoporosis and looks to group members to play an active role in planning and development to suit their needs.

Osteobusters Exercise Programs

Glens Falls Hospital in cooperation with AdROC and RSVP offers the Osteobusters Program. Osteobusters is a free osteoporosis treatment and prevention exercise program lead by seniors for seniors. The program convenes several times a week, typically meeting in community centers or similar locations. Volunteer program instructors go through a full day training session plus yearly updates on exercise programs. The classes typically host 12-25 participants from the age of 50 to over 90 (some of our instructors are in their 80s!). The program includes strengthening and balance exercises using weights from 2-10 pounds and incorporates educational programs on topics related to Osteoporosis.  If you are interested in attending one of these programs, please call Lois Wiegert at 518-792-3233.
